We are a diverse and experienced group, to be certain! We all believe strongly in the
homeschooling lifestyle, and in supporting our students as they learn and grow. Fireside offers strong academic and enrichment classes with a ratio of 1:15 or better. Our teachers are all trained or have degrees in
the subjects that they teach. Fireside has nearly 200 years accumulated homeschooling experience in our teaching staff alone!
The following are a few brief bios of our amazing teachers, advisory council members, and staff.
Angela Landis (Fireside Academy Founder, Director, and Teacher)
Angela was a dual major in anthropology and psychology at Temple University. She homeschooled her two children for fifteen years, and continues to teach others, both at Fireside and other settings. She is passionate about her work as a certified Wilson dyslexia tutor and reading specialist. She is also as an English tutor for a foundation designed to empower young women high school basketball players from inner city Philadelphia as they pursue college and careers; and an academic tutor for Bethany Christian Ministries working with refugee teens from Afghanistan. Before children, she had worked as the operations manager for a large furniture store and in administration at various colleges, developing the organizational skills necessary to run a homeschool business. She has a great passion for all writing, social sciences and nature study, and enjoys teaching those subjects to children, as well as sharing her knowledge of arts and crafts in enrichment classes. Her greatest delight is in watching her own children, and her beloved students, succeed. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, crafting, cooking, and vicariously traveling through time and place with a good book.
